How It Actually Works

When you upload a document and hit send, here is what happens behind the scenes: your file is converted to the TIFF format that fax machines understand, then transmitted via the telephone network using the T.38 fax protocol -- the same protocol a physical fax machine would use. The recipient's machine cannot tell the difference between a fax from us and a fax from a $200 Brother machine sitting on someone's desk.
